As you can see we did eventually catch a turtle or two, and released of course........after a little investigation. Hard shell, check....retractable head, arms, and legs, check.......cool stripped eyes, check.........super fast get away skills, check.........hey, I thought these things were supposed to be slow!

We had Isabella tag along on this expedition. She had a little more trepidation about touching a real live turtle, and needed some coaxing to touch it. She promptly demanded that we put the turtle back, and stop touching it. Luke did not agree, but eventually he sent the turtle back to its home. Luke was even more excited when we caught the big turtle. I can not believe how fast these guys (or girls) can move when motivated, and what more motivation do you need than a boy picking you up and flipping you over. We checked him out, let him try to escape then re-captured him a few times before Luke carried him back to his watery home.Later in the day we did a little painting
Fisher price day at the zoo had Luke riding around in a lightning McQueen electric car. You were only supposed to take one ride around the track at a time, but Luke decided he would just keep on going, after all he was lightning. The line was short, and the people supervising said he was o.k. I wonder how many parents went out and bought one of these things for their kids after this, luckily Luke does well with parting from fun toys, saving his melt downs for another day :)
Well, we rode the horse a few times so why not a llama, lucky for Luke he wasn't in a spitting mood (and lucky for the llama neither was Luke).
Then it was on to the bumper boats. Luke really gets into these! Prying him from these is usually what he reserves the fight for. Actually, after a few turns (think 5 or 6) he will leave, reluctantly, but he'll go.
Can anyone see the purpose with which he is crashing...aahh....bumping into this boy (below). Could there be a more perfect game for kids to play? Bashing into other kids and you're encouraged to do it, how fun!!!!

This is Luke pretending to be a frog at the amphibian exhibit in the zoo. We were lucky to be in there when one of the biologists was cleaning out the terrariums and was more than happy to show Luke the frogs close up. Luke watched and asked questions for about twenty minutes. The guy was great! And what post would be complete without a picture of Luke and his lizards.
Love and miss you all! Can't wait to see Nanny and Grammie soon.
